I would like to introduce the customized “Ross and Paul” mp3 player which I designed myself. It has some glitches that I am trying to figure out, but mostly it works pretty well, and it’s still pretty cool. Sometimes it has trouble loading the next song. I’m not sure if this is an error with the file server that hosts the song files or my program, but I am working to improve the player for future posts. If you experience this glitch, just try refreshing the page and resume playing where you want.
Paul and I are always complaining that classic rock radio stations never play new material by the very bands that dominate their airwaves every day. In today’s playlist, I have included three such examples, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, all of which released new albums in 2010. Clapton by Eric Clapton made the no. 1 position on Billboard’s Top Rock Album chart this year; Le Noise by Neil Young, no. 14 on the Billboard 200; and Mojo by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, no. 2 on the Billboard 200. With these recent albums doing so well on the charts, why don’t we hear them played on the radio stations that seem to be devoted to overplaying songs like “Layla”, “Cinnamon Girl”, and “Refugee”?!? Don't get me wrong, I love the old songs, too, but the libraries of these artists are far more vast, the new being just as great as the old. Enjoy!
