Spur of the Moment list #2
(Paul says:)
These are primarily songs that Les (or Sofon) sang after Kelly was gone, but I've posted them here in case the band decides to do any of these songs.

Spur of the Moment setlist
(Paul says:)
Here is most of our Spur of the Moment setlist. I've compiled it here (and two other smaller lists) so that I and my far-flung bandmates can practice without getting out a bunch of old CDs. I made it a certain color - don't step on the red part!
Enjoy!

Spur of the Moment songs not on the playlist website
(Paul says:)
These are songs that are not on the Playlist.com website that we used to do. I've posted them here so that my bandmates who are scattered all over the state (and Mike in Florida!) can practice along with them.

Clapton, Young and Petty Deliver in 2010
I would like to introduce the customized “Ross and Paul” mp3 player which I designed myself. It has some glitches that I am trying to figure out, but mostly it works pretty well, and it’s still pretty cool. Sometimes it has trouble loading the next song. I’m not sure if this is an error with the file server that hosts the song files or my program, but I am working to improve the player for future posts. If you experience this glitch, just try refreshing the page and resume playing where you want.
Paul and I are always complaining that classic rock radio stations never play new material by the very bands that dominate their airwaves every day. In today’s playlist, I have included three such examples, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, all of which released new albums in 2010. Clapton by Eric Clapton made the no. 1 position on Billboard’s Top Rock Album chart this year; Le Noise by Neil Young, no. 14 on the Billboard 200; and Mojo by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, no. 2 on the Billboard 200. With these recent albums doing so well on the charts, why don’t we hear them played on the radio stations that seem to be devoted to overplaying songs like “Layla”, “Cinnamon Girl”, and “Refugee”?!? Don't get me wrong, I love the old songs, too, but the libraries of these artists are far more vast, the new being just as great as the old. Enjoy!

ASHKON: DON'T STOP BELIEVING - GIANTS 2010 ANTHEM (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
(Paul says:)
Pennant fever has gripped me. As a lifelong Giants fan, I had to post this for you all (even though Ross now lives in the lair of the Rangers). No matter who you're cheering for, I hope you'll like this. The guy even does a great Will Clark impersonation, and Will played for both teams!

Dedication
(Paul says:)
A bit of a different thing for today, my friends. Usually, this blog is just about music, but I wanted to dedicate a song to one of my sports heroes, Brett Favre. I'm not a Vikings fan (but I became a Packers fan largely because of Favre and the joy of watching him play). In fact, I cheered against them tonight for the New Orleans Saints, partly because the Saints hadn't ever been to the Super Bowl.
For those that didn't see the finish, it ended like this: the Vikings had the game wrapped up; all they needed was a few yards and they could call their last timeout and kick a long (but well with Ryan Longwell's range) field goal to win the game. Favre rolled out and could've run for 5 or 10 yards. Instead, he made an ill-advised throw across his body to the middle of the field, and the Saints' defender picked off the pass. The Saints later won the coin toss and controlled the ball for the entire overtime, kicking a game-winning field goal of their own.
The point is, I don't want Favre's great career to end on that stupid pass, so I'm hoping, in my own little way, to encourage him to come back for one more season. Please?

P.S. I was just going to put Styx's "Don't Let It End," but Yngwie Malmsteen is awesome enough that included his song of the same title. Both are live versions - enjoy - and thanks for indulging me.
